security

I’d seem to develop a sorta-kinda interest in computer/network security. Unfortunately, quality information isn't always easy to find, especially if you're trying to find stuff from The Other Side. So I've collected this list of sites that have decent (sometimes great) information and/or software archives.

The organization of this page might upset some people who, for instance, honestly believe that 2600 is a white-hat kinda group, or that full-disclosure sites like rootshell are Evil.

Oh well. You’re so welcome to discuss to me anything from the following links. Feel free to gimme your comment.

Security Tools

Nessus

Nessus is a very cool open-source security auditing tool that runs under FreeBSD, Linux, and Solaris (using X11 and GTK). There is also an NT version.

nmap:

nmap is the handiest, dandiest port scanner I've been able to lay hands on. It runs under something like 13 *nices, is very flexible and quick like a bunny.

Sniffit:

Brecht Claerhout's super-funky-fresh sniffer. Runs on Linux, SunOS, Solaris, FreeBSD, and IRIX, has a great ncurses (or simple commandline) interface, can do screen duplication and all kinds of neat stuff.
